I have this goal of setting foot on all seven continents. It's not a bucket list thing exactly. I believe something shifts in how you see the world when you've been to places that are genuinely different from each other. So far I've covered four. Africa is where I grew up, so that one's deep in my bones. Asia and Europe I've visited for work and family. North America is home now. That leaves South America, Australia, and Antarctica. Three continents, and honestly, Antarctica is the one that excites me most. There's something about standing on a landmass where almost no one lives that I find compelling in a way I can't fully explain. South America feels like it could happen soon. I've been looking at trips to Colombia and Argentina, and I think either one would be incredible. Australia is on the list too, though the flight time with small kids gives me pause. We'll get there. Part of why this matters to me traces back to [[life/Lessons from Zambia|growing up in Zambia]]. Moving between countries as a kid taught me that the way things are done where you live isn't the only way. That sounds obvious when you say it out loud, but you really feel it differently when you've experienced it firsthand. I want that for Kian and Nova too. I want them to eat food they can't pronounce, hear languages that sound like music, and realize that their normal is just one version of normal. I've been [[life/Teaching Kids with Tech|building little projects with the kids]] already, and I think travel will be another kind of education entirely. The plan is loose. There's no spreadsheet tracking this. It's just a quiet commitment that over the course of a lifetime, I'll find my way to all seven. ← [[Life|Back to /life]]
